Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center North Beach Chinatown Beacon Center Job Announcement Position: Program Instructor: Technology, Cooking, Dance, & General Instructors needed Reports to: Program Managers Salary: $13-15/ hr Work schedule: 2:30 pm-6:30 pm, Monday- Friday Organizational Description: Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center (Tel-Hi) is a nonprofit organization which provides services and advocacy for residents of northeast San Francisco. Focusing on low- moderate income children, youth, families, and seniors, Tel-Hi creates and strengthen community bonds, provides health and wellness programs, and broadens educational and cultural experiences. With its diverse array of program services in multiple locations, Tel-Hi serves approximately 600 individuals each day. Beacon Center: The mission of the North Beach-Chinatown Beacon Center at Francisco Middle School (FMS) is to provide youth, families, and community members with a safe and engaging space, offering academic support, enrichment, recreational, employment, and youth development opportunities. Activities and services are offered during the school day, after school, evenings, and weekends throughout the year at FMS, Tel-Hi, Galileo High School, and North Beach Place. Position Description: This position will be an afterschool leadership position that will require a daily curriculum for clubs and activities for the students. This position will be placed at Francisco Middle School. Position Requirements: Interest and experience working with underrepresented youth in San Francisco. Two years experience working with teenagers in a school and/or community-based setting. Experience in afterschool programming and facilitation with teens a plus. Demonstrated ability to problem-solve. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Well-developed organizational skills and ability to prioritize and delegate when necessary. Knowledge of MS Office, Excel, and internet based research. Report writing experience is a plus. Ability to work as a contributing team member and to work independently. DOJ, FBI, Child Abuse Index, TB clearance required. People of color are encouraged to apply. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Assist with day-to-day operations of Beacon Programs, including registration and data entry 2. Establish and maintain a positive and safe environment for program participants including assisting with classroom and behavior management 3. Facilitate activities including after school workshops andclubs for youth 4. Incorporate California State Standards within all program activities 5. Increase visibility of program activities through flyer design, marketing, and outreach 6. Encourage involvement in program activities by building positive relationships with youth and their families 7. Participate in regular staff meetings and on-going training opportunities as needed. 8. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all shared program space. 9. Assist Administrators and Staff as needed 10. Relationship building with youth, family, service providers, and FMS school community Assist in data entry management: DCYF and ExCEL contract EMC/CMS, Beacon registration/enrollment, club attendance, etc. Knowledge of California State Standards Develop quality curriculum within all Beacon activities; incorporating California State Standards Coordinate lesson plan/curriculum trainings and reviews with staff Coordinate with Wellness and Film Specialist for curriculum development of program Coordinate with Academic Manager for curriculum development of program Provide coaching and development support for staff Practice methods of restorative justice and youth development Attend DCFY and ExCEL meetings as needed Support school-wide collaborative efforts: Wellness Week, Peace Week, Summer Activities Fair, Family Night, etc. Qualifications: At least one year experience working with youth/families in a school and/or non-profit setting. Familiarity with youth development and restorative justice practices.
