LOVE IS PATIENT AND KIND: “Love … is patient AND kind - TopicsExpress

LOVE IS PATIENT AND KIND: “Love … is patient AND kind …” (1Corinthians 13:4 Amp, emphasis mine) In the ninth chapter of Luke, we find Messiah Yeshua reprimanding His Disciples. “All power and authority” had been given to them (Luke 9:1); however, their desire was to abuse this HOLY “authority and power”. Yeshua was NOT trying to tame their boldness – which, in itself was Good – but found their motives, and the Attitude of their hearts, completely in the Wrong. “IM-patient” and offended with the rejection that had been given them by a particular Samaritan town, the disciples wanted to call fire down from heaven, destroy the town, AND everyone in it (see Luke 9:51-56). People who are impatient in their nature are, as a rule, selfish and self-centered. They are on their OWN Agenda, and have little time for the needs, wants and desires of others, unless it should coincide with their own. Their love is turned inward, towards themselves, and they naturally expect, and will even demand, everyone to be patient and kind with THEM. There is even a subtle form of pride found in impatience; it surfaces with an Attitude of “out of my way, I can do this faster (and better) than you can.” These type of people (and this is what happened with our disciples momentarily) will never look beyond themselves to SEE a need other than their OWN, to SEE the hurt that needs healing, the pain that needs comforting, and those needs that need to be met. When YHWH’s Love fills our hearts, the fruits of His Set-Apart Spirit (in the form of the Fruit of Patience AND Kindness), will begin to blossom. It will pour OUT of us toward others, because YAH’s Love is in giving, giving, giving. We give patience and kindness by simply reflecting the same patience that our Adon has had with us, in all of our stumblings and failures. We hold our hand out to our brother/sister, and say, “Here, let me help you. I have walked this particular path, and I know where the stones are. See my knees? I fell often …” “I call upon you therefore, I the prisoner of the Master, to Walk worthily of the calling with which you were called, with all humility and meekness, with patience, BEARING WITH ONE ANOTHER IN LOVE, being eager to guard the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace –.” (Ephesians 4:1-3 ISR, emphasis mine) “And from Him the whole body is fit together and is tied together in all the joints, according to the gift that is given by measure to each member for the growth of the body, that its edification might be accomplished IN LOVE.” (Ephesians 4:16 HRVS, emphasis mine) “… And BE KIND towards one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as Elohim also forgave you in Messiah.” (Ephesians 4:32 ISR, emphasis mine)
