Labour Laws Update - India Addnl. Central Provident Fund Commissioner have issued an instruction to all regional PF offices for preparatory activities to be carried towards enhancement of wage ceiling from Rs.6,500/- to Rs.15,000/- per month, under Employees Provident Fund & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952. EPFO has launched a Universal Account Number (UAN) driven Member Portal to provide a number of facilities to its members through a single window. One of the major reports that is generated in the application software is the member passbook. There were lot of grievances from the members that the passbook is either not available or is not updated. To redress these grievances a facility to view/download up to date, passbook has been provided to the members who activates their member e-sewa account. The passbook in the e-sewa has been provided from the centralized MIS database through website epfindia and entering individual Universal Account Number online. Thus, get your UAN from the employer, as is will be allotted to every member by the Employee Provident Fund Organisation. This will help the member to view details of all the Member Identification Numbers (Member Id) linked to it. If a member has already been allotted Universal Account Number (UAN) then he / she may provide the same to new establishment / employer which in turn will mark the new allotted Member Identification Number (Member Id) to the Universal Identification Number (UAN). Central Provident Fund Commissioner have issued an order regarding Social Security Agreement between Republic of India and the Kingdom of Sweden, which comes into effect from 1st Aug 2014. Under the detachment clause, the employee of one country deputed by their employers to the other country on short-term assignment are exempted from Social Security contribution in that country up to a period of 2 (two) years. However, such exemption can be availed on the basis of Certificate of Coverage where concerned employee through employer need to apply for getting COC in prescribed format, which needs to be issued by Regional / Sub-Regional Office, PF.
