Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear parents and students, Welcome back to the German International School Dubai. We hope you had a good summer holiday and look forward to an exciting new school year 2013 / 2014. With this Email you will now receive some important information. Calendar and 1. school Day On our home page germanschool.ae you find a link to our DISD-calendar. Until the implementation of a new IT concept, we use a Google calendar. In this calendar you can find as of now all current events around the school. Please inform yourself regularly by using the link on upcoming events. Please also note that we will no longer inform about all events in the future by Email, but we will post them in the calendar. The first school day is 01. September 2013 and will start at 8am with the greeting of the students and teachers in the auditorium. Please understand that this event can only take place without the parents. In the following there will be a briefing and information for the students through the class teacher in the classroom. The first school day ends at 1:15pm. The first school day for grade 1 is 04. September 2013. We will send an additional information for the parents of grade 1. Parking Rules The first priority for us is the safety of the children. Therefore, we point out that it is important that you adhere to the parking rules. The parking lot plan can be found on our website under "Ordnungen und Satzungen": dis-dubai/site/files/DISD-ParkingArea_20130129.pdf On the plan you see the area in which you can park and the area in which your children can be dropped off. Please keep on walking speed (up to 10km / h) and pay particular attention to the children running around. Please do not turn, do not drive backwards and adhere to the entrances and exits. The security staff of the school is authorized by the school management to give instructions. Please follow the instructions and support a safe arrival and departure. Pick up and drop off times / stay in the school building Please note that it is not allowed for parents to stay on the school grounds during and after the school lessons. This applies to the entire school grounds and school buildings. With the begin of the lessons all gates of the school will be closed. You can reach the administration of the school via the side entrance at the kindergarten. Here please register via the interphone with our security personnel. At 1pm the side gate at the kindergarten will be open for parents of kindergarten children. From 1:15pm the large entrance gate at the sandy parking lot will be open. Administration Please note the opening times of the administration: Sunday 8 – 10 am and 12:30 – 1:30 pm Tuesday 8 – 10 am and 12:30 – 1:30 pm Thursday 8 – 10 am and 12:30 – 1:30 pm On Mondays and Wednesdays the administration is closed. Outside the opening times please agree an appointment. You can use the mailbox in front of the administration to drop letters, checks, etc. outside the opening times. School Uniform Starting with school year 2013/14, the transitional period for wearing of trousers and skirts made of denim has expired. Instead, we ask you to use only the trousers, skirts and skorts of dark blue fabric. Parents Evening On the 17.09.2013 from 6-8pm the first parent evening will take place. Our new principal Mr. Gert Blach will be present this evening. Parents Café We are pleased to offer a parents coffee morning this year again. You can use this event to meet with other parents and share information. Coffee, tea and light snacks will be available for purchase. The parents Café will start on 02.09.2013 and will then take place every first Tuesday of the month from 8-9am in the canteen.
