Lago Vista 35, St. Stephens 0 By Jim Goodson Lago Vista defeated 0-3 Austin St. Stephens Academy 35-0 Friday night, capping off a fun homecoming despite game-long drizzle. The Vikings rushed for 307 yards on 55 running plays. They only threw one pass - an incompletion on a play that sent quarterback Josiah Rohne to the sidelines after being hit hard as he threw. I wish we hadnt even passed once, head coach Alan Haire said after the game. Lago Vista (2-1) will live or die with Haires Slot-T running game. So far, theyre living right. Haire said Rohne is fine and will be available when the Vikings visit state-ranked Wall next week. Senior Tyler Kelm led the Lago Vista attack, rushing for 116 yards on 11 carries and scoring two touchdowns. He had plenty of help from upback River Wylie (83 yards on nine carries with a touchdown), Brendan Curio (72 yards on 18 carries) and steady Jacob Carpeno (55 yards on eight carries). Lago Vista played error-less ball: the Vikings were not penalized and did not have a turnover. We played a lot of kids tonight and they played well, Haire said after the game. After Rohnes exit, Austin Polke came in and played well, contributing to the Lago Vista error-less effort. Game statistics will be posted next.
