Lakewood Chaveirim (a volunteer organization that is on call to perform acts of kindness as needed) once received a call from a distressed mother. She said her son was jumping in a pile of leaves, and his cochlear implant, which cost a few thousand dollars, fell out and got lost in the pile! The family members had already searched the entire pile but could not find it, and she asked if there was any way they could help her. Within minutes, many Chaveirim members responded to her call. They brought metal detectors, magnets, and rakes to assist in the search, and after about an hour and a half of combing through the leaf pile, the hearing implant was found!
