Lamido Was missing at Jigawa Deputy Speaker’s burial Jigawa State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Inuwa Sule Udi is dead. Alhaji Udi,died in a fatal motor accident at Jogana,along Kano/Hadejia highway as he was heading to his home town, Ringim Local Government Area, from Kano on Thursday night . He was survived by four wives, 18 children and aged mother. The 48 years old Deputy Speaker was buried in Ringim his home town in a funeral prayer led by the Emir of Ringim, Alhaji Sayyadi Muhammad amidst thousands of Muslim clerics including the Jigawa State Deputy Governor, the Speaker, Jigawa House of Assembly, lawmakers, Commissioners and religious leaders among others. Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido and SSG, Alhaji Lawan Abdu Babura were absent at the funeral prayer. His burial was delayed up to 10am yesterday which is against Islamic rule which says that whoever dies should be buried immediately. People thought the delay would enable Governor Lamido to take an early morning flight to attend the burial but he didn’t show up. Alhaji Lawan Abdu who hails from the same emirate with the Deputy Speaker was also absent. The situation resulted in side talks amongst people of Ringim, describing the absence of the government officials as a sign of misunderstanding and lackadaisical attitude of the government officials with the deceased whom many described as a friendly and a respected leader. Emirs of Ringim, Alhaji Sayyadi Mahmud Abubakar and Dutse Alhaji Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi and Speaker Jigawa State House of Assembly, Honourable Adamu Ahmed Sarawa led thousands of Muslims at the funeral prayers of the late Deputy Speaker. The prayer was conducted at the Ringim mini stadium attended by thousands of family members, friends and close associates; prominent politicians and traditional rulers across the state and neighboring state. Family and friends could not control their emotion as they wept.The deceased was buried at Ringim cemetery amid tight security. People in Ringim commended the effort of the Emir of Ringim for attending the funeral despite his health condition but expressed dismay on the absence of any top government official. A group of people interviewed by our correspondent in Ringim described late Inuwa Udi as a humble philanthropist and a man never ran away from his people, saying his death has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill in the political history of Ringim and Jigawa state in general. A member representing Yankwashi constituency, Honourable Abdu Dauda described late Udi as very friendly, loyal and committed law maker who has contributed immensely to the passage of many bills.
