Lancaster Roots and Blues Festival The first annual Lancaster Roots and Blues, A Festival of Music, is scheduled to take place in Downtown Lancaster on Friday, February 21 and Saturday, February 22, 2014. This festival brings together artists from all over the US who showcase their talents with a wide variety of sounds. Naturally there will be Blues and Roots music but you will also be able to hum along to some familiar sounds including Jazz, Folk, Soul and a bit of Rock n Roll. The festival is bound to lessen your stress level and improve your dance flair, if you choose to dance the night away. Musicians who are listed to play at the Lancaster Roots and Blues are noted as some of the most talented, raw and authentic artists you may ever hear. These artists have a reputation for playing their music with plenty of heart and soul. Dont expect to hear prerecorded voices or background vocals, these artists are the real deal. Here are a few of the featured artists: Cabinet - With their soulful and simplistic sound they engage their audience with intertwining sounds of bluegrass, folk and country which yields an incredible and energetic performance. They are scheduled to perform Friday night at 11pm on the Robert Johnson Stage at the Lancaster County Convention Center. The SilverHawks - Born in 1989 as a special scheme for a class reunion, this band features an 11-piece band, including 3 lead singers and a 4-piece horn section. With their blend of dance music, R&B, soulful ballads and rock n roll, you will encounter a endless variety of sounds when it comes to The SilverHawks. They are scheduled to perform at the Chameleon Club, Friday at 6pm. Baby Soda - Some of New Yorks finest artists, Baby Soda is redefining the term street jazz. With influence from the raging 30s swing, jazz and southern gospel, Baby Soda strives to bring the joy of music to their audience. Baby Soda is scheduled to perform Saturday at 7:15 pm on the Tigh Mhary stage at Tellus360. Also scheduled to perform at Lancaster Roots and Blues are: James Cotton, Postmodern Jukebox, David Mayfield Parade, Bill Wharton The Sauce Boss and many, many more! A list of the notable venues includes The Ware Center, Lancaster County Convention Center, Tellus360, Chameleon Club and The Federal Taphouse. There will also be a shuttle bus traveling between the different venues each night. Lancaster Roots and Blues is a wonderful way to shake off the frigid winter conditions and warm your soul with some excellent live music! Ticket packages are available and include one and two-night passes at only $45/75. There are also limited VIP packages available. Tickets are on sale now.
