Landscape construction crews transplanted an Oak tree within the - TopicsExpress

Landscape construction crews transplanted an Oak tree within the 83 acres of Moorings Park community last week. It took approximately 5 hours and 3 men to move this 20 high 12 wide canopy Oak tree, 3/4 of a mile. Our crews root pruned the tree about 4 months prior to the actual transplant. This process allows the tree to acclimate to root loss before severing the rest of the roots when it is finally moved. Transplanting a tree takes time and care to ensure that the tree will survive in its new location. We do this by pruning the roots for adequate nourishment and stability once moved, protecting the trunk and limbs during the move, preparing the soil prior to planting, and staking the tree properly to support it while the roots take hold of the new soil. Fred Yarrington of the Moorings Park Going Green Committee reviewed our progress and was pleased with the final move, noting that That oak is the healthiest looking tree on the campus. Mr. Yarrington, completed 25 years of service on the USGA Committee assisting in setting up golf courses for major tournaments, has been an active representative on the Building and Grounds Committee at Moorings Park. We are pleased to have his endorsement of our work!
