Langley + Whiteheath weekly N.H report for week ending Fri 4th Oct 2013 Langley neighbourhood team Sgt Ian Pc Nick Pc Angela Pcso Nicki Pcso John Shepherd Steventon Keeling Field McNally Previous week’s activity - crime We have had 15 crimes reported on the neighbourhood over the past week which is slightly higher than our recent weekly averages. We have had 1 Burglary Dwelling offence reported which related to a flat on Causeway Green Road being broken into sometime during a five day period between 27th September and 2nd October. The unknown offender(s) forced a front door, gained entry and subsequently stole some copper piping from within. This offence may well have something to do with an on-going dispute between the landlord and a tenant of a flat below who he is currently in the process of evicting. We have had 0 Robbery offences reported this past week. We have had 0 Theft of motor vehicles reported this last week but we have had 2 Theft from Motor Vehicles. The first offence related to a spare wheel being stolen from underneath a van outside an address on Penncricket Lane last Saturday night (this is the fourth such offence within the past two weeks on the area). The second offence related to registration plates being stolen off a car in Windsor Road sometime during last Sunday night. We have also had 2 offences of criminal damage to motor vehicles reported this past week. The first crime related to a car having all its panel’s scratched whilst outside an address on Farm Road sometime during last Monday night whilst the second matter related to a vehicle having its side window smashed by unknown means outside an address on Lovett Avenue, Lion Farm sometime during Monday night also. We have had 1 offence of criminal damage to a dwelling reported which related to a domestic type incident where by a son of the victim smashed some holes in some interior walls at a property on Sycamore Road, Langley, last Monday evening. We have had 1 Thefts of metal reported which related to some copper piping being stolen from a void and empty old care home on Pedmore Walk, Lion Farm sometime during Wednesday night. We have had 2 assault reported this last week which both related to domestic violence type incidents between male and female parties at addresses on Sycamore Road, Langley and Titford Lane. Fortunately, the physical injuries suffered by the victims in both these incidents were fairly minor. Our 6 other miscellaneous offences reported this past week consisted of 3 x Shoplifting offences at Halfords’s and Asda x 2 respectively, a possess an offensive weapon offence where by a male was detained on Penncricket Lane and found to be in possession of a knuckle duster, a threatening behaviour offence where by a male verbally abused a female on Causeway Green Rd (Once again the offender is the male from number 273 who we are in the process of trying to evict / obtain an Interim ASBO on) and finally a Racially aggravated criminal damage offence at a garage on the Wolverhampton Road on Thursday evening where by two drunken male customers racially abused the cashier after he refused to serve them and they then proceeded to smash a panel in the front door of the premises as they left. We have had 1 hate/racist incident reported to us this week which is detailed above. Arrests this past week include offenders for the domestic related criminal damage to dwelling, both offenders for the domestic related assaults, both shoplifting matters at Asda, a male for the offensive weapon offence and the male for the threatening behaviour offence too. Previous week’s activity – ASB * We have had 5 calls recorded as ASB over the past week. The first related to a complaint of a noisy party at an address on Parkfield Road last Saturday night. Officers attended and advised the offending party who turned their music down. Our second call related to a similar complaint of loud music at an address on Cakemore Road on the same night. Once more officers attended and advised the occupants. Our 3 other calls all related to further complaints regarding disorder and behaviour at a particular address on Causeway Green Road on several different evenings. On each occasion, officers attended and advised the male occupant about his conduct. As mentioned previously, we are currently working with both the landlord and Sandwell council ASB enforcement team to both evict this male and also obtain an Interim ASBO to keep him away from Oldbury. * Local Intelligence No significant intelligence of note this week. Crime patterns * In terms of serious acquisitive crime, we have reduced Burglary Dwelling offences to an average of one per week across the whole neighbourhood over the past year. This is a significant reduction on what we used to suffer and has been most significantly achieved by specific targeting of our known offenders for such crimes. We have no current patterns to the most recent offences we have suffered but patrols will be increased in these areas to offer some reassurance to victims and residents. We suffer very few commercial or street robberies on the neighbourhood, with only 13 such offences for the whole of last year across the neighbourhood. Once again there is no pattern to these. Vehicle crime overnight was our main problem throughout 2012-2013, around the Wolverhampton Road and roads off there, although this has reduced significantly during the first half of the year. Clearly, we have suffered some break-in’s to sheds and garages overnight recent week’s so we will keep a close eye on this and remind all residents to make sure their shed’s and garage’s are well secured. * Burglary Dwelling, Violent offences and Business crime are our priorities for the neighborhood and the whole of Oldbury and Rowley Regis. We are working closely with our CID colleagues which will give us more control on our target nominals. Community Reassurance * Local officers continue to conduct High Visibility patrols in hot spot locations, in particular our locations of our recent burglaries, to offer reassurance to residents and increase trust and confidence. We are also now providing additional patrols around Causeway Green Road and Langley Park to combat sporadic complaints of ASB by groups of youths during the evenings. Forward Planning * Nothing of note If you can assist the partnership in any of the issues raised above, please contact your neighborhood manager Mr. Parmjit Sahota or myself. Many Thanks Ian Shepherd P Sgt 5093 Langley + Whiteheath neighborhood policing team.
