Last June my friends 13 y/o non-verbal, autistic son was taken - TopicsExpress

Last June my friends 13 y/o non-verbal, autistic son was taken into protective custody by DCFS. At the time he had been in-patient at the U of Us neuropsychiatric unit for two weeks. Now mind you this is a secure, locked down unit. My friend calls up there, talks to the Doc in charge, says she would like to bring her son home to sleep in his own bed and continue his treatment on an outpatient basis. Next thing you know, DCFS puts a 72-hr hold on her son and he is placed into protective custody. Since then I have witnessed such an amazing amount of dishonesty, manipulation and abuse that I dont think even Hollywood could dream up such a story line. Every document the case worker submitted to the court was rife with facts taken out of context and down right lies. I have sat in this Judge Nolands court room and listened to this case worker lie to the judges face. Altho Skye was supposedly placed in pc to adress his behavior issues, my friend has been treated as tho she is an abuser and mentally unstable when she did Nothing wrong. In fact the court papers state that Diana is unable to care for Skye due to her mental problems and I want to know just where that case worker gets off making such a claim when Dianas recent psych eval said nothing of the sort. Truly, I am horrified and appalled at the blatant abuses DCFS allows to be perpetrated on my friend and her son. Is there anything of decency and honesty left anywhere among humanity? Ive read on the Internet where states get federal funding, grants, what have you, upwards of a quarter of a million dollars for each child with disabilitied taken into stste custody. Isnt that the most shameless public permission to take these children for the sake of the almighty dollar? These children who.have been our societies outcasts, unwanted and shunned for almost all of mankinds history, why these children are suddenly worth bank to unscrupulous politicians and heartless social workers. Shame on the people of this country for letting this selling off of our special needs children. What does that say about us as Americans? As humans?
