Last Saturday, April 5, 2014, our group went to Sitio Nagpana, Brgy. Lipata, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo to visit the recipients of the planned Daycare Center that Tukod sa Pagbangon is planning to reconstruct because the original center was totally damaged by Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan last November 8, 2014. Our group has conducted 3 major Relief Operations from November-December 2014, major in the sense that our group has received more than 600 thousand pesos in cash and more or less 500 thousand pesos worth of goods and another 400 thousand pesos for school rehabilitation in Brgy. San Lucas, Barotac Viejo headed by the group of Mattie Sulpico and Emmaruth Chavez. We still have more than 100 thousand pesos left in our fund and as we all know we should already be finished with the relief operations and should start the rehabilitation phase and rebuild communities. Why Nagpana? Nagpana is an aeta community in Barotac Viejo, its accessibility makes the logistics costs lesser. It is just less than 2 hours of travel from Santa Barbara to the site. Why a Day Care Center? A humble one room 8 meter x 8 meter Day Care Center is a doable project that our 100k money can finance. The experts and social workers are already discouraging giving of tents and letting the people live in these accommodations to make them regain their dignity and for them to go back to their normal lives. Update on this project of ours: 1. We have an anonymous donor of 400 pesos to Brgy. San Lucas Elementary School in Barotac Viejo...P250,000 worth of materials were already purchased recently and they are already on the process of hiring workers: welders and laborers for the work to commence soon. TUKOD VOLUNTEERS CAN HELP WITH THE PAINTING OF THE BUILDINGS AND ROOFS LATER. :) 2. In the Nagpana Day Care Project, we have talked to the MSWDO and she suggested that we can be partners in implementing this project, the DSWD will be launching the cash for work program after the holy week and heads of the family of most affected areas of Yolanda will be hired in the rebuilding and rehabilitation phase. So hopefully we can use the entire amount of P100k plus pesos for the materials only. Any additional financial help is still welcome because an ideal Day Care Center in worth 200-250k pesos accdg to DSWD. and hopefully we can also furnished it with tables and chairs.. THIS IS ALL FOR NOW FOR UPDATES....SALAMAT FOR BEARING WITH US.
