Yoga teachers I just want to remind you all that you cant win them - TopicsExpress

Yoga teachers I just want to remind you all that you cant win them all, so dont beat yourself up trying. If you teach a class that emphasizes alignment because you see they need it someone is going to curse you for keeping them from getting into their flow. And if you show up and focus on cultivating emotion and expressive movement someone else is going to judge you for not offering enough structure. If you are an anatomy geek someone is going to dislike your class for not being spiritual enough, and if you chant in class someone is going to judge you for trying to convert them to Hinduism. Im just reminding you all, and myself of this because I think we really just have to show up sure of our own intentions and not worry too much about how others receive them. And as students (because we are all students and are all guilty of passing fast judgement on other teachers) we need to remember that what a teacher chooses to express on any given day or at one particular event is not the full story of who they are or what they teach. So give them a chance before you put them in a box. And when you feel that you have been put in that box by a student passing through try to see if there is some value in their opinion of you- but only change what you are doing/how you show up if it is in alignment with your deep Why and it will further your growth as a teacher. Otherwise you have got to let it go or you will turn into a weirdo trying to please everyone. One of my dear teachers once told me that you cannot teach from a place of wanting them all to like you, instead you must teach from a place that is true to you in that moment as that is the only place where the shakti/power is. This is a practice, it is not easy, I know. I just want to acknowledge that. xo
