Last Sunday when I tried to do my little balancing act between the boat and the jetty, I failed. Off to work I went on the Monday with a throbbing, bruised leg, nope, go home, go see a Dr says one of the awesome physios from work, of to the Dr I toddle. Go home, rest, put your leg up, I follow orders, but by Wednesday my calf is bruised so badly I can barely stand anything on it, cant get in to the Dr here, so into one of the bulk billing clinics in Gtown, straight into see a Dr and he tells me to get over to casualty. Being the obedient person I am, off I go, X-rays, more Dr s, hmmm compartment syndrome is the big worry, surgery is explained if thats what it turns out to be, up to the ward, leg elevated, iced, lets see how it goes. After a couple of days of sitting on my immense derrière I tell the nurses than I have a sore bottom, no body bothers to have a look, (cant say I blame them), finally on Sunday morning I am allowed to use a walking frame, under supervision ONLY, just to wander the 5 or so steps to the bathroom, I use the mirror in there to have a look at my afore mentioned derrière, red, bruised, nasty, so, back to the privacy of my curtained off bedroom to the nurse who informs me that I have a class 1 pressure sore. fantastic! Monday morning one of the doctors breezes in, talks at me for approx 2.75 seconds informing me I can go home. great, thats what I want! Then, young mr guy from orthotics wanders in to fit me with a moon boot, why do I need that? I ask, he tells me it is to support my leg, and to assist with the fracture! What fracture? Yep, X-ray shows I have fractured my fibula when attempting my circus act. Nice to have been informed. Now, I am sitting here, the bruising is now that lovely yellow/ green that they go after a week, my bottom is so sore, sitting is almost impossible, sorry if thats too much info, but I really need to vent about it,, (no pun intended!) Ok,, rant over.........
