Last night . . . At Impact Student Ministries, Steve did the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Why do that? And why do it in church? Because that is exactly what Jesus would do. I’m pretty sure about that. Jesus would do it, because in some small way it is breaking down the barriers that separate. It doesn’t heal anyone from ALS. But it does heal them. After millions of people have done the challenge, they still have the disease. But it heals the soul to know other people, even in a very small way, are showing solidarity with you in your struggle. I wish there was an Ice Bucket Challenge for everyone who struggles with anything and everything. Come to think of it, there sort of is. That’s God’s offer to us. Whenever and however we feel isolated and alone, God says I’m there with you . . . no matter what. May you know that you are never truly alone today. As always, Peter
