Last night, I decided to redo the photos on this piece... Again, I know there are many Anti-Zilla people here, and thats fine, but for me its more about the unusual & scarce prototypes on these particular figures and this one fits that bill just right. Its a very rare TRENDMASTERS Shatter Tail Godzilla, an Unpainted First Shot Prototype in the Unmarked White Prototype Box. When these figures were in development at TRENDMASTERS in 1997, to maintain the secrecy of this new Kaiju design, Godzilla was dubbed The Repton and not Godzilla. Now, apart from it being really cool to see one of these figures in such an early stage of development with the presentation test box cut out, its even more rare to find one of these figures with an additional 5th finger instead of the usual four. So, these in particular were called The Illegal Reptons, because TOHO had threatened to pull the license if TRENDMASTERS didnt correct this issue with the additional finger immediately. Well, I have a number of these Illegal Reptons in my collection, so you know how well that turned out. I think package proto elements are even more rare than prototypes of the actual toy. And I like this piece that much more for the fact that it comes in the unmarked box, apart from some grib note measurements all over it.
