Last night i was having a sundowner out on the back patio while i was waiting for tea to cook and as usual watching nature at work, the two little night spiders going round and round in circles building their webs near the barbie, then I looked over to the wall of the house next door. On that wall was a Hornet with a Huntsman spider easy twice her size in her mouth, she was already 5 metres up the wall and headed sideways and backwards 15 metres along the wall and then a couple of metres down the wall than back up again and 15 metres back to the end of the wall with a few more up and down the walls and excursions to the left and right again. I was getting exhausted watching her. By this time I had been watching this for a good half hour. She then made it to eave and hanging upside down and still walking backward she managed to make it to the facia board which is smoothly painted and I thought Uh Oh!, she may loose her grip here, but she made it to the metal gutter and I though she would surely lose her grip. She made it to the lip of the gutter and I went, Phew! Here she had a bit of trouble trying to pull the huntsman over the lip and i figured that the gap on the inside of that lip may have been the problem as she may not have been able to get a good grip...... Im goin cmon you can do it Then a wattle bird flew in and sat on the fence looked up and spotted the fat arse of the Huntsman hanging over the lip of the gutter swooped up and snitched the spider out of the hornets mouth and buggered orf with it. DOH!!!! The Hornet spent the next twenty minutes flying around the area looking for her lost bootie. I was plumb tuckered out by the time this all played out....
