Last night in the Georgians For Constitutional Government group - TopicsExpress

Last night in the Georgians For Constitutional Government group there was an open invite to join in at Swanee tea party meeting next Tuesday, the 28th, titled, conventionofstates is the answer to this 1984 runaway federal government... this is the most exciting political event in our lifetime. dont miss it. Im so deeply concerned with this, because if a convention were called, there would be no requirement for the states to ratify the results of the convention. That is one big difference between a constitutional convention and an amendment to our Constitution. With an amendment, the states must ratify it. But they dont have that role in a constitutional convention. 3/4 of the states may apply to Congress to call a constitutional convention (con con). If that happens, then Congress has a constitutional duty to call a convention. And for every constitutional duty, there is also a constitutional authority to carry out that duty. And, according to our Constitution, Congress is authorized to make such laws as needed to carry out that duty. (I will give a link to an article which has references to the relevant passages of the Constitution and federalist papers so you can verify this for yourself). This is the critical point which has been incorrectly reported by various conservative authors and pundits (one of whom let the cat out of the bag and said that a new constitution is needed; most of them I believe have been mislead and are reporting the issue incorrectly without malice, i.e. it is a simple mistake). The States apply, but Congress does the rest. Congress may be asked to consider only certain issues, but once the process is in their hands (i.e. once the States ask them to call a convention), Congress can decide to scrap the whole Constitution and write an entirely new one. That is what happened the first time. They were supposed to simply make some changes to the Articles of Confederation but they wound up writing an entirely new Constitution. Congress, the very body which currently ignores constitutional limitations on its own power, and fails to take action against the other two branches which also ignore the constitutional limitations on their powers, would be in charge of selecting delegates and every other aspect of the convention. The thieves and liars in Washington would be in charge of the convention. There are groups of Republicans as well as Democrats who would like to rewrite the entire Constitution. I believe these groups are responsible for disseminating the false information concerning a con con. Many real conservatives, desparate to reign in the out of control federal government, have read the false information in columns or books by people they find trustworthy. That is the only way they can succeed, by spreading false information and fear among good honest citizens who believe others are better able to explain the law than they are. This is the same way the power usurpers have tricked the people into accepting other power grabs. freedomoutpost/.../article-v-propaganda.../ americanclarion/propaganda-conspiracy... I only wish I could make the event. Id go to speak against it, and warn of the misleadings and dangers involved. There is nothing wrong with the Constitution as is... This movement as perceived is clearly NOT the convention described in Article V. It wont solve the problems we face and trusting untrustworthy/unconstitutional electives to change or not change the Constitution is unacceptable.
