Last night on the drive home my GPS was nice enough to route me on - TopicsExpress

Last night on the drive home my GPS was nice enough to route me on a slow, horse and buggy, two lane road which resulted in me being more angry and upset than I had been in a very long time. I spent hours in a mood that nearly led to me washing away one of thee best weekends I have shared in a very long time. I wanted to be on that fast familiar interstate that I have traveled so many times. The one that I knew would get me to my destination, home, safe and sound as fast as possible. Instead I was on this dark and winding path through unfamiliar territory which reeked of cow manure. There were stop signs after stop signs, 35 mile per hour signs every where, traffic lights in every little podunk town and people driving slower than the speed limit who were in my way. At two points I was so upset I had to pull off the road to regain my composure. I ended up spending one hour more in the dark than I felt I need to, or did I? How much time and energy did I waste worrying about the unknown, about speeding towards a destination that was going to be there no matter when I arrived? I lost hours and minutes that I could have had listening to new music, replaying the moments of the weekend, smiling, or even enjoying the silent thoughts that so often fuel new creativity. I focused on the dark stench of a winding road instead of the miles of opportunities on a slower paced unfamiliar journey. #lessonlearned
