Last night we celebrated the full moon on Friday the 13th by going to the Screaming Bridge of Mauds-Hughes Rd.. The story goes that people have died falling off the bridge to the railroad tracks below, and some train workers were scalded to death in that area of the track. The most famous story is about a couple that was arguing and the woman either fell or was pushed from the car to her death below. The supposed phenomena a person can witness includes; floating orbs, the couples argument, screaming, phantom trains and ghosts walking the track. I of course went to hopefully witness something, and then pragmatically explain it.So we took Devon, our 13 year old grandson who bet me before we left 4 weeks of chores for free that the existence of ghosts would be proven to me. So we got very lucky...the property just past the bridge is for sale and unoccupied, so we had a great parking spot. The moon was of course full so we were able to see clearly. HOWEVER, on a Friday night the road was very busy and on a curve so it was a bit tense. Devon was the first to crack. It is absolutely amazing how much noise a single human being can make! Bored within seconds, the true ghost believer launched a campaign discrediting the whole trip, claiming that we should have gone to an actual haunted house. He occupied his time with throwing rocks over the bridge and at the curve road sign, breaking sticks, drumming on the guard rail and complaining non-stop and finally requested to go back to the car where he became scared because the ...plants in the field were steaming.... The only phenomena we witnessed was a police car that stopped to ask what we were doing and to admonish us to be careful Because it is dark. So if anyone would like to further investigate, let me recommend the following to prepare: Take a flashlight so you can see well enough to trek down through the woods to the tracks below without becoming a ghost. Wear long pants and take some mosquito repellent. Do NOT take a 13 year old no matter how much of a paranormal advocate he states he is...
