Last week, Elgins Police Explorer Post #1445 attended the National Law Enforcement Explorer Conference in Bloomington Indiana. A total of sixteen Explorers and five advisors attended the event. There were over 2000 Explorers representing over 200 posts in attendance. Explorer posts originated from city, county, state and federal levels. Elgins post competed in a total of nine team competitions and six individual events. They were awarded with a third place national trophy for Exploring USA - Community Service. This event consisted of preparing an information booth that promoted how Elgins post performs valuable community service hours, not only for Elgin, but also for other organizations when they are available to do so. The post also met the director of the Secret Service, Julia Pierson, shown in the top left photograph below. She is a former Explorer who transitioned into an advisory position and is now the current national conference chairperson. At Wednesday nights city council meeting, the team presented their trophy to the city council. Thank you to the advisors for all of the guidance and time you contribute to Elgins Explorer program. Congratulations to Post 1445 for their excellent demonstration of teamwork and dedication, we are all proud of you!
