Last week marked my 8th anniversary of performing standup. I feel you never stop learning, and even though I headline great clubs and other functions, Im still also an opening act thats willing and ready to learn the ropes from people above me. To this day if Im hosting or featuring on a show, I stay till the end to watch the headliner, unless I have another gig to get to. Tonight, 9 comics went up before me, and 4 of them stayed till the end. One of them talked loudly through my entire set, and the other 3 were respectful. Some of the ones that left, were at the bar drinking like grizzled veterans, telling war stories about the open mic scene. I will definitely be contacting the cool ones in the near future for work on private gigs with me. The others probably dont need the work, cause Im sure they will be too busy promoting their podcasts to their aunts, uncles, and cousins! Whats really important though is the audience, and Id like to thank them! They were wonderful!
