Last week,the California Historical Society, in partnership with the Sierra Club, SF Bay Chapter, explored the continuing legacy of John Muir and todays conservation movement as we approach the 100th anniversary of Muir death. On the same day, UCLA hosted a conference on the relevance of Muir today. This article, in Gawker, takes a look at the different views of Muir and concludes that celebrating Muirs legacy is critical.
