Last year in July we purchased a new stove for a dad and mom who had a down syndrome child. The end of April on our way to Florida my daughter Amy and I stopped to see this family with clothes and toys for Robert who was turning 4 in a couple days and Panera bread for them and all their neighbors. I had not been there before and the poverty I witnessed I have not been able to forget. My heart was so touched. When we pulled away I was overwhelmed with so many feelings. For my 14 year old grandson Hunter it was a new experience and made him thankful for what he has. Amy and I started talking about what we could do. I wanted to do a makeover on Roberts room and Amy thought that would be great since she and Ryan would be taking the teens and college kids on the houseboats in Corbin, KY in July which is near Roberts home. Debbies Closet found out Robert loves Sponge Bob and purchased Sponge Bob bedding, curtains, blanket and a stuffed character. The plea was put out to Northline to get some new stuff for the parents and received sheets, silverware, toaster oven, additional decor for Roberts room and other items. While they were down there Northline but on a big cookout and game time for the whole group of trailers in that area. They also purchased for Robert a motorized big wheel and slip and slide with a pool. I had asked Amy to find out if the parents had a bed. She called and told me they were sleeping on the floor on a mattress. Debbies Closet purchased a new bed, mattress and box springs for the parents. They were so thankful and we are so blessed.
