Late night reading for the NERD in me: A new study from iVillage called Take Charge of Your Career found that only 17% of women surveyed have ever asked for a one-on-one meeting with their boss to discuss their career. Less than 30% have ever asked for more training. And just 28% have requested more responsibility. The article gave three great ways to transition into a new position: Be clear on your anticipated career path then figure out what skills you should leverage and which ones you need to improve upon so when the opportunity presents itself you will be ready. Locate and build relationships with influential people who will advocate on your behalf, and give good reasons why you deserve a raise and promotion(do your research.) My added thought be mindful of how you present yourself to the world (ie. facebook, instagram, and twitter)! Good night folks.
