Late this afternoon, I was dispatched to a medical call regarding a one month old child that wasnt breathing. As I arrived and entered the residence I observed a mother sitting on the couch crying hysterically holding her life less one month old premature son. I immediately grabbed the baby who was not breathing and foaming at the mouth and advised dispatch to have fire rescue expadite their response and I would meet them in the parking lot area in front of the apartment building. As i walked down four flights of stairs I did everything possible to get the child breathing. By the time I made it to the front parking lot area the baby was breathing but it was labored. By the time fire rescue arrived at the hospital they had stabilized the baby and he was breathing what appeared to be normal. The baby was born two months premature and had just arrived at home two days prior from the neonatal intensive care unit at Broward General Hospital. THIS IS WHY I LOVE MY JOB……………………...
