Lately I have heard some scary things on face book, about soldiers saying they refuse to go and fight. And some of my non veteran friends commented that it is the soldiers right to express his/her opine on face book and other social media out lets. What you have to know is, when we joined the Military we gave up some of our rights to protect the full rights of Americans. We cannot be in Uniform and make political statements, we cannot refuse to go where we are order to go, and we cannot say what we want against our leaders. The UCMJ is very clear on this matter. The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) is the bedrock of military law. Article 87 - Missing movement Article 88 - Contempt toward officials Article 89 - Disrespect toward a superior commissioned officer Article 90 - Assaulting or willfully disobeying superior commissioned officer Article 91 - Insubordinate conduct toward warrant officer, noncommissioned officer, or petty officer Article 92 -Failure to obey order or regulation Article 93 - Cruelty and maltreatment Article 94 --Mutiny and sedition Article 96 --Releasing prisoner without proper authority Article 97 --Unlawful detention Article 98 --Noncompliance with procedural rules Article 99 --Misbehavior before the enemy Article 100 --Subordinate compelling surrender Article 101 --Improper use of countersign Article 102 --Forcing a safeguard Article 103 --Captured or abandoned property Article 104 --Aiding the enemy Article 105 --Misconduct as a prisoner Article 106 --Spies Article 106a --Espionage Article 107 --False official statements Article 108 --Military property of the United States--sale, loss, damage, destruction, or wrongful disposition Article 109 --Property other than military property of the United States--waste, spoilage, or destruction Article 110 --Improper hazarding of vessel Article 113 --Misbehavior of sentinel or lookout Article 115 --Malingering Article 117 --Provoking speeches or gestures As a retired Military police, I have investigated and presented charges for violation of the UCMJ. When I see on Face Book a disregard of the very code that a Military Member swore to protect and up hold, It makes me boiling mad. They had forgotten that they gave up their rights to protect the Rights of the American people. If you do not want to up hold the Code then get out. To my non veteran friends, I understand that you think that we should have those rights to express what we think. But in the Military, this cannot be, Orders must be followed without pause or people die. Every Military member takes an oath. Enlistment Oath.— Each person enlisting in an armed force shall take the following oath: I, XXXXXXXXXX, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God. I have taken this oath into my heart, mind and soul. If you cannot follow this oath, then get out. God bless the USA, God Bless the Armed Forces, God Bless you all.
