Latest Medical Fiasco. First - yesterday surgery center called and said I was scheduled for 11:00 am instead of 9:00 am. This was after not had anything to eat since Monday at midnight except clear fluids. Then had to do that nasty colonoscopy prep and ended up with diaper rash - waaaaah! Got the to change time back to 9:00. So this morning my friend, Cookie, picks me up at 7:00 am. By this time Ive had 3 hours sleep, am hungry as hell, a nervous wreck and not sure Im finished shitting so on goes the depends. Get to the surgical center and everything is fine. poop couple more times so should be good to go. Wake up from twilight (which is dead to the world for me) and Dr. said we had a conversation about procedure - I think he was talking to himself since I remember NOTHING! Seems he couldnt complete colonoscopy due to scar tissue which was probably caused by the diverticulitis. So...now he is sending me next door for a barium enema. Im thinking good - at least I dont have to drink any nasty stuff. Bring on the nasty stuff! A barium enema is when they shove a hose up your butt, inflate a balloon to make sure it stays there and then fill you with air and this white barium stuff. They then take around 50 x-rays all the time you are trying to relax to relieve the pressure. After that is done you can now audition to Circ d Soleil since you have become a contortionist. You cant leave the table until the Dr. says OK. Then you have to go to the bathroom and try to expel all this nasty gas and white stuff. Was told to use laxatives over next couple of days to make sure I eject all the barium. If I dont the barium can turn to concrete which would not be so good, especially if I fell into the pool. Ahhhhh - Depends - my new best friend. See surgeon next Tuesday and will know more them. Looks like Im dreaming of a surgical Christmas. HoHoHo
