Latest newsletter from NZ singer TONI HUATA - November 2014 Xièxiè Shanghai, Gday Melbourne! Kia ora tātau, and welcome to new friends. So it has been another busy month, last week we arrived back from China and this week our newsletter comes to you from Melbourne. Thanks to everyone for your great comments and messages of support on facebook. Overall, we had twelve performances around Shanghai and Wuxi, collaborated with local DJs, two international percussionists and we met lots of great musicians who were also guests of the Shanghai International Arts Festival and the Wuxi International Festival of the Arts. It was also a real treat being on the other side of the world and performing with fellow Māori artists Maisey Rika and her brother JJ. Waahuu was also represented at WOMEX in Spain and were in Melbourne to attend the AWME (Australasian World Music Expo) and to perform in Moana Dreaming - a collaboration with our Australian aboriginal brothers and sisters . Tomokia is still going strong and in this edition weve included a link to a Tomokia interview where Toni talks about the inspiration for the album. Karl has done a great job putting the interview together for us so click on the link below and check it out. AWME stands for Australasian World Music Expo, and is Australasias premier roots music industry showcase, conference and trade event. This means that for four days well be among the finest music, over 55 amazing artists, 16 concerts, and two days of in-depth conferences. This Expo will be lots of fun, but also very important mahi as were attending to help increase the profile and awareness of music from Aotearoa and to help the development of international markets - so we cant wait!!
