Lavender Essential Oil: one of the most popular essential oils. It is documented that Galen, who was an influential Greek medical practitioner, born in 131 CE, gained fame during his tenor as the surgeon to the gladiators of Pergamos. He had no gladiator die from infection while under his care using essential oils and other medicines. Because of this, he became the personal physician to Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. He remained a part of the Emperors court until his death in 201 CE.
