It is actually Mbalula, Blade, Vavi, Motlanthe and Manamela who led the war to defend JZ. President Zuma was fired as State DP in 2005 May, and was charged around June. The night vigils in KZN that started around August 2005 were organised by the ANC REC at Ethekwini KZN. Malema played no role. When President JZ was charged with rape and appeared in the South Gauteng High Court, it was the ANCYL under President Mbalula who organised protests at the court. That time Malema was a leader of the YL in Limpopo (far away from the action). The case against JZ was struck off the roll by High Court Judge Qedusizi Msimang in 2006, thus, for the whole of 2007 President JZ was not in court for any reason. This time, Malema was still a YL Provincial Chair in Limpopo. Many members of the ANC including Malema mobilised support for Zuma towards Polokwane Conference, in their little corners of influence. Malemas corner of influence was Limpopo as a YL leader, but the leader of the caucus in Limpopo was Cassel Mathale and Collins Chabane, not Malema. President JZ won the war for survival in the 2007 ANC Congress when he was elected ANC President. Coming out of the Conference, Pres JZ had the support of the ANC NEC for the first time. Thus when he got charged on December 2007 after the ANC Conference, those were the last kicks of a dying horse. Now, Malema enters the scene in 2008, when the war has been won and starts insulting an already defeated and retreating enemy. Like all ANC leaders, he campaigned for the ANC, but him, and his ilk continue with the lie that he delivered Pres Zuma as if the ANC was not expected to win the 2009 elections or that Pres Zuma needed any support by 2008 when he already had enough of it including organisational power. #well said#
