Lead story of balochistan express BNP to take Assembly seats It’s members to take oath strengthening elected institution By Haseeb-ur- Rehman QUETTA: Balochistan National Party being national, democratic political party, in a surprise move has decided to continue to participate in the Parliamentary politics defending the Baloch rights in all forums. A Party announcement confirmed that the opinion sought from party workers and activists from all over Balochistan who favoured using the platform of Parliament and Assemblies for advancing the national rights of the Baloch people exposing anti-Baloch policies in shape of military operations, including the fifth one started by General Pervez Musharraf in 2005 which is still continuing. The workers and political activists of the party from all District of Balochistan were of the opinion that the Party should use the forum of Parliament and Assembly as a tool for national struggle advancing the legitimate Baloch national interests in future. By taking this decision, the BNP Members of Parliament and Balochistan Assembly will take oath as Members and play their democratic role in Parliamentary politics. However, the announcement made it categorically clear that the Party had never considered Parliament or Assemblies offer no solution to all the problems the Baloch nation is facing at the moment. Keeping the sentiments of the party activists and party hard core, it was decided to raise the voice against injustice inside the Parliament and the Assembly exposing the highhandedness of the functionaries against the Baloch people. The BNP will not ignore the broad masses of the Baloch people alone in difficult times and fight for their rights in all forums, including the Parliament and Assembly. The BNP is firm and committed to defend the Baloch mainland in all circumstances considering it a political struggle for national rights. The Party had assured the Baloch people in general that centre of BNP’s politics is Balochistan and its people. The party vowed to fight back all the henchmen of the establishment and anti-Baloch elements defending Baloch culture, civilization and the Baloch fatherland with full force and commitment. The Party considered the May 11 elections as a victory as the Baloch people in general had overwhelmingly voted and made it the biggest political party of Balochistan. They also repose a trust in the dynamic leadership of Sardar Akhtar Mengal as Party President who is the real and lone spokesman of the Baloch nation, the party announcement claimed. The BNP vowed to oppose and condemn the continued military operation since 2005 which the fifth in Pakistan’s history. It said that the mutilated bodies and kill and dump policy is continuing and there is no change in the State policy towards Baloch people seeking their usurped national rights. The Party announcement charged that certain powerful elements are making efforts to enslave the Baloch people permanently and usurped the riches of Balochistan in the shape of mineral wealth in Reko Dik, Saindak Copper and Gold Project, Dudar Lead and Zinc project, Gwadar Port, unending Baloch coast line. Backwardness of the Baloch people and rampant poverty among them is the deliberate policy of the Pakistan Establishment and is part of the strategic plot to colonize Balochistan with use of brute force. It strongly condemned target killing of politicians, political activists, students, lawyers, doctors, poet, teachers and other professional as part of ethnic cleansing of the Baloch people. It also charged that the Afghan refugees and illegal immigrants from Afghanistan are being settled in Balochistan as mater of policy to convert the Baloch people into minority on their own homeland. The BNP vowed to defend thousands of years old Balochi language, Baloch culture and civilization in which establishment and its functionaries are actively involved. The BNP strongly demanded that the Establishment should wind up all its proxy death squads involved in target killing of Baloch intellectuals. It will also oppose the brazen interference in all civilian affairs by the security forces and the State institutions. Meanwhile, seasoned political observers had welcomed the decision of the BNP to participate in the Parliamentary politics strengthening the elected institutions against the misrule of state functionaries.
