Leadership is not about you (the leader), not for one second should you let yourself think it is about you. Not for one second should you let yourself be self absorbed no matter how passively (weve all been guilty of it once or twice), because its not about you. Leadership is about every other member of your team. They owe you nothing. You as a leader have a responsibility to create an environment where they WANT to come to work, to work with you not for you. You can be as strict or as tough as you like but unless youre creating an environment that taps into the motivation at an intrinsic individual level, thats ignites your people as individuals and as a team - you will have staff, but not a team.
