Leah Kalanguka #MissUganda2014 deserved her crown. Its about time we faced reality; beauty without brains or character is no BEAUTY at all. Let us stop with all the stereo types on dark skin, tribe, comparison, the definition of beauty and under estimating the cause of beauty pageants. Im proud that the 23 yr-old Leah that critics say is a chicken and mushroom farmer, is far better than all those who are dependent of others for everything - they want to be spoon-fed until theyre over 30 years old or more. All of a sudden the twitter-razzis and facebook-ers have become beauty pageant judges/experts? some of the critics neither know how many peaks of rainfall this country has nor the basic knowledge on the countrys agricultural industry yet we go ahead to unleash bitter bile on a young youthful and ambitious girl chasing her dreams? how patriotic of us! Leah is a young attractive, confident, brilliant and intelligent girl. Above all her beauty stands out head to toe - the right model physique, height and yes, her face exudes African beauty. Ugandans and our assuming of roles we know little or nothing about is just misplaced talk. this gal is no school drop out, shes a student of software engineering at Makerere University Kampala. How many girls do you see choosing software engineering at the university? how many girls in todays dot industry do you see doing chicken poultry and mushroom farming at age 23? Critics waste time reading the first 140 characters or less of news and think thats enough to give them encyclopedic knowledge on a subject...Lets do more of informed talk African beauties that were despised in the beginning have turned out to be the best of exports to the International runway scene from AFRICA - Alek Wek, Aamito, Ajuma Nasenyana, Djimon Hounsou and now Kenyan-mexican Actress Lupita Nyongo is the most beautiful woman according to people magazine. The wanna be, know-it-all perception amongst social media subscribers will either be the end of knowledge or the beginning of wisdom. To Leah Kalanguka, let no one steal your thunder. May you succeed in all your ambitions now and in the future.
