LeakyCon Day 3: June 29th, 2013 Horrible traffic prevented me - TopicsExpress

LeakyCon Day 3: June 29th, 2013 Horrible traffic prevented me from going to the second day of LeakyCon, but I did manage to go on Day 3 with my wife Evanna Bradley-Tschirgi and my friends Tony Minsent and Jill Seale of Bowtie Cat, Eric Windsor of OTL Gaming, and Evan Burkey. We observed some of the Quidditch matches in the same Exhibit Hall that housed the Vendor Room. I had no idea people played the game of Quidditch from the Harry Potter books and movies as an actual sport with balls, brooms and hoops. The rules were a bit tricky to grasp. The team was made of Chasers, Beaters, Keepers and Seekers. The game ended when the Snitch was caught by one of the Seekers. The Snitch was an actual person that would run around and hide in the exhibit hall so they would not be caught. There were a lot of fun t-shirts for sale in the Vendor Room. We ended up buying a t-shirt with an owl that said "Doctor Whooo" on it, a time-turner necklace, and a toilet decal that said "This way to the Ministry of Magic." The bar inside the Oregon Convention Center had a drink that mixed the Leaky Cauldron Butterscotch Beer with some vanilla vodka. The drink was refreshing and not overly sweet. The day finished with Tony, Eric and I doing a live Sequelcast panel. Although our panel was not featured in the printed schedule, it was on the online schedule and the app. The next time I do a panel, I will definitely make my own signs. My wife and her friends ended up getting some people to come to the panel. We had a panel of about ten people, half of which were my friends. It was a lot of fun, although it made me realize how tough it is to do a live podcast without a laptop for research. I should have printed out some notes to have more accurate factoids at my fingertips. Our Sequelcast Live show will be posted as part of the next Sequelcast Special episode this Thursday.
