Learner guilty of theft Simon Liseli Thursday, July 17, 2014 - 08:00 Northern A learner, Oscar Muzumi Mutafela, 18, was arrested on 8 February 2014 at Mahohoma compound of Katima Mulilo by the Namibian police for breaking into Edwin Mbala Kamwi’s house and stealing items such as a MP4 DVD, travelling bag, two trousers, three dresses, a wallet with an identity card in it, and a blanket, all valued at N$3 180. He pleaded guilty to the offence in the Katima Mulilo Magistrates’ Court and was on 24 June convicted of housebreaking with intent to steal and was sentenced to 48 months imprisonment of which 20 months were suspended for five years. Also in the Katima Mulilo Magistrates’ Court, Nshwahu Driver, 43,was convicted of theft and sentenced to pay a fine of N$3 000 or six months behind bars. She was employed as a cashier at Schuckma Bar at the Dairy compound and used N$2 000 of the owner’s money without consent for playing gambling machines. She was arrested on 13 August 2013 and granted bail.
