Leave tomorrow for a truly epic adventure. Bill Marzana and myself will be flying into the remote native community of Kasabonika Lake, a huge widening of the Asheweig River which flows into the Winisk in far northern Ontario. We then travel by boat through the vast expanse of Shibogama Lake ultimately to the rivers outlet and an outpost camp on the banks of the Asheweig River. The trip all told is over 70kms by boat! The outpost itself was built in 2002 and was operated until 2005 and hasnt been used since. Shibogama has never been targetted seriously for giant pike ever....by anyone. The river itself teems with trophy brook trout. Should be just as much adventure as fishing, CANNOT wait! :) asheweigriver
