Lecturer - Bankstown eResearch and Online Social Analysis, School of Social Sciences and Psychology Ref 991/14 The University of Western Sydney is a large multi-campus university servicing a diverse range of students. The School of Social Sciences and Psychology offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including research programs that combine advanced academic knowledge with real-life training to suit a range of career needs and interests in the following disciplines: Geography and Urban Studies; Heritage and Tourism Studies; Peace and Development Studies; Policing; Sociology and Criminology; Community Welfare and Social Work; Therapy Studies; and Psychology. This position is expected to teach in undergraduate and postgraduate programs including taking particular responsibility for the specialisation eResearch and Social Analytics in the Master of Social Sciences. As a Lecturer, you are expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution and to carry out activities to maintain and develop their scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline. You have a social or behavioural science research background in using digital technology; expertise in online modes of social science research in one or more of the following: online surveys or interviews, online social networks as a data source, access to and analysis of large secondary data sets. You also have a well-developed understanding of political and ethical issues associated with the use of big data, and ability to assist students with these issues.
