Leggings - A curse for the modesty of sisters. Bismillah {By the Soul & the proportion & the order given to it; & its inspirations to its wrong & its right.} [Al-Qurán – 91:7-8]. This Verse proves that by nature the humans are capable of distinguishing between what is right & what is wrong prevailing around us in our so called cultured societies. Moreover the last messenger ‘MUHAMMAD’ {Saws} preached us that… A believer is a mirror of other believer. (Tabrani), which clears us from the fact that advices are must to correct our bro’s & sis’s if they are knowingly or unknowingly entangled in some sweet marketed evils. Now coming to the topic Leggings what are they; So the wiki answers us as, they are the type of skin-tight garment that covers the legs and that may be worn by both men and women. Formerly, leggings were two separate garments, one for each leg. (Now for time saving they are combined so that the immodest wearing doesn’t take much time). Now sis’s the thing which I want you all to nail down in your brain is, un Islamic dressing inside a modest Burkha is still immodest as hiding the inside immodesty from the world is of least importance BUT focusing on the command of “ALLAH” is very important. So now the later note will (In shaa allah) help you to check your shelves which may or may not be filled with the Curse - The Leggings & if they are then for sure the fearing believers will remember the ayah of the Qurán – We Hear & we obey: [We seek] thy forgiveness, our lord, & to thee is the end of all journey. (Qurán- 2:285). Before moving further let us revise the Modest Dress Code for the believing women commanded by “ALLAH”: A wide enough dress which does not outline any part of the body. A thick enough fabric dress which does not silhouette any part of the body. A dress clear of perfume, Scent, or make ups. (Exception in regards of Mehrem). A dress that does not look like the infidel’s dresses for we are prohibited from imitating them. A dress that does not include a loud (Attractive) colour, or to be itself a dazzling display. Covers the whole body from head to toe. A dress which doesn’t look similar to mens wear. A dress that is not worn for show off reasons, so that people will not get involved in the prohibited act of feeling superior over each other. Now coming back to the leggings they on keen examination doesn’t fulfill the Islamic dress code as; They are skin tight. They resemble the complete shape of the legs. They are marketed mostly in dark & Attractive colors. Sis’s I observed that these leggings esp. in my city became a trend from the last few years, after observing I noticed that the practicing Muslim sisters are also being trapped in this evil because of its cheap marketing, easy availability, more color choices & easy to use. But I would like to remind you all of the famous hadeeth that; {Two types of Hell dwellers I did not see. People with whips like unto the tails of cows with which they hit (other) people. And women who are wearing clothes as if they are not dressed (immodestly dressed) bent & cause other to bend, their heads are like unto the crooked humps of camels. They (These women) do not enter paradise & do not get its scent. Verily its scent is smelt from a distance of such & such (a very far distance)}. This Hadeeth contains a detailed description of this type of women: She wears some clothes, but she is almost naked since she exposes most of her body (or at least enough to excite men’s desire). She either: - Exposes her legs, thighs, or bosom or wears transparent clothes that clearly demonstrate the shape of her body or Wears such TIGHT clothes (remember Leggings) that cling to her body like second skin, & leave little to the imagination. She wriggles while walking, an action that stirs desires. Her head is higher than the normal because of the latest hair styles, which make it look like the crooked hump of camels. Now sis’s not only leggings but Jeggings, Saaree, Jeans, Shorts, T-shirts, Track pants etc. are all un-Islamic dress which are perceived by the human brains as evil but culture has a very great impact on our brains which helps us little to at least think over these important issues. It’s illogical moreover shameful to discuss whether 2 inch between the T-shirt & the leggings is more modest than the 4 inch of the saaree blouse at the back. To end it remember bro’s & sis’s modesty is earned by ignoring unwanted, Uncultured, Unreligious desires though immodesty is a just a matter of Copy & paste. (y). May “ALLAH” protect the modesty of the believer Muslimah’s by blessing them with sensibility & guide those who are still depended on the everyday inventing cultures. Aameen. SHEIKH UMRAN
