Lehigh Township Police Department participated in Operation Safe Stop on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. The police department monitored 35 bus stop locations, with unmarked and marked police vehicles, along State Routes 145, 248 and 946. The department was pleased to acknowledge that no violations occurred. It is important for motorists to understand the severity of the penalties for violating the school bus laws in Pennsylvania. A person who is found guilty of a statutory violation of Meeting or Overtaking a School Bus, will pay a $250 fine, face a suspended driver’s license for 60 days and be assessed 5 points on their driving record. -Chief Scott M Fogel-
