Leo News Leo News This year our holidays where spent specially for our dogs Leandro and Aslan, we had planned a trip through the Balkans and back via Croatia. It was an unexpected experience to go to Bosnia and Montenegro with a Camper, the roads were very small and not always worth to be called as such . The nature around us mostly mountains, valleys and water falls and they were scenically beautiful. The people we met were ever so kind and helpful and so we decided to stay a few days on a auto camp just doing nothing but rest. The shows are held mostly outdoors on a tennis field nearby an university, the state of the buildings around made us remember the war, in fact the whole road through Bosnia was marked in the same way, something to think about. In the beginning of the year the whole northern region was flooded, the traces were visible by the hanging clothes in the trees 3 meter above the actual water level of the river. Two days of show from which the first Leo was judged by a Russian judge Mr. Evgenij Erusalimskij who place him first with CAC and best of breed. The second day Judge Paul Stanton from the UK placed him again first with an excellent and CAC, CACIB and BOB. Later on in the evening in the ring of honour Leo was placed third.Actually unbelievable! Time to go in direction of Montenegro via small lovely roads where we drove 7 hours to cover 250 kms. The show was held in the city park, for us not more than a grass field with some beautiful trees nearby a railway station, which was just a stop on the tracks for the passengers to get off. Here we made some friends from Serbia with their beautiful Mastiffs with who we will keep contact and even visit later in the year. The real camping started only electricity no water but lot of sun and fun, again a whole experience in itself. Day one Leandro judged by Madame Gabriela Ridarickova from Slovenska who awarded him a CACIB and BOB, the next day judge Mica Mladenovic from Serbia gave him CAC and best of breed. That evening we spent with our friends just sitting around a table chatting and listening to music they made simply by playing a guitar and singing Serbian folk songs, very nostalgic and entertaining , Again an unforgettable experience of warmth and kindness. The next day we had to leave but the departure was a sad affair as we had really enjoyed having them as kind hospitable neighbours in the short time we spent together. Sometimes one finds wonderful people in extraordinary places and circumstances. The way from Montenegro to Split only 360km but took us again 7 hours to finally arrive upon a free parking ground where we met some other Belgians and Dutch people also coming for the show. The free parking only provided us with electricity and the water we had to steal from a leaking pipe from the circus nearby. A total different organisation from Bosnia and Montenegro, here the shows started on time unlike the other places but its go with the flow and confusion and try to figure out when it was our turn, great fun scrambling around. Here we met back people from the other shows from Sarajevo or Montenegro and lots of camaraderie. During the four days Leandro got rewarded with 2*CAC, 2*RCACIB and a best of breed. Happy with our trip Leandro came back with some champion titles. Champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina Champion of Federation Bosnia and Herzegovina Grand Champion of Montenegro Champion of the Adriatic Champion of Balkan Champion of Montenegro Champion of the Mediterranean. Champion of Croatia ( awaiting reception) All in all a memorable trip
