Knowledge can alone stifle you and block you from thinking creatively because you can be locked in someone elses great ideas and not produce your own while you also have a great mind. Education HAS limited what people do in life because it gave them an identity in their career while they could be something greater. The real aim of education should be to teach you how to think, not what to think. In fact a lot of what we learn at school / University is not directly related to the work we do so limiting ourselves to specific fields is one of the disadvantages of education. The real aim of education should to be to teach you discipline, time management, how to think and a few skills through knowledge. The real aim of education should be to give you confidence to to specialize in anything. If you have the above you dont need education at all. I have noticed that education is used to measure peoples capacity in the workplace. The question is can you handle the pressure at school? Well then if you can then it means you can handle the pressure in my company. Its like a license, but it is not everything you can start your own thing and apply all those skills I mentioned above (and others ) and Im sure you will succeed. That is what the Bantu education did, it was based on a banking system of knowledge where knowledge was poured in from teachers and learners had to come out with it as it is without thinking. The apartheid gov. messed up the minds of the older black generation through reproduction of knowledge and they did not teach critical thinking which is what we need today in South Africa and in our businesses. #ThoughtfulTuesday
