Less than a week after her re-election, Brazil’s president Dilma - TopicsExpress

Less than a week after her re-election, Brazil’s president Dilma Rousseff has thousands calling for her impeachment. One guy was even quoted by Estado de São Paulo newspaper, the nation’s second largest daily, as wishing for a return to the military dictatorship years. “If you think what we have now is democracy then I’m in favor of a return to militarism,” Estado quoted a São Paulo police officer named Sergio Salgi as saying in Saturday’s edition. Salgi was 17 years old when the military dictatorship ended in Brazil in 1985. The voting age in Brazil is 18. Dilma won in a squeaker on Sunday against her Workers’ Party chief opponent, the Social Democratic candidate Aécio Neves. She won with a little over 52% of the vote. Voting is mandatory in Brazil.
