Let me explain the controversy over this election for any of you who may not understand what is going on. June 3rds primary had a Republican and Democratic primary election. Chris, Thad and the other guy ran on the Republican ticket. Travis Childers and some others ran on the Democratic ticket. In the primary, Democrats vote for their choice and Republicans vote on their choice. In the Democrats primary, Travis Childers won the majority by a lot, so he moved on to the general election as the Democratic candidate in the general election. Chris and Thad did not carry the majority needed, so that is why we had the runoff on June 24. Chris did win the popular vote on June 3 though. The run off election is open to anyone that did NOT vote in the first election (including Democrats) and Republicans that voted in the first election. We do not have closed elections in MS. Typically, a Democrat would have had no reason to vote in this run off. They would have waited and voted in Nov.s general election for Childers. Rarely will you have a Democrat that crosses the party lines to vote for the other partys candidate, but it does happen. Whoever votes in the run off though has to intend on voting for that same candidate in November if they are a member of the opposite party. So if a Democrat voted for Thad, they would have been allowed to do that only as long as they intended to vote for Thad in Nov. Now it is very hard to prove someones intentions and people can change their mind, especially by Nov. Here is the BUT......some Democrats posted they did this all over social media. They admitted they had no intention of voting for Thad in the general election even though they supported him in the runoff. The controversy reached new heights after many reports were made of illegal voting. Cochran reached out to heavily populated African American communities (assumed to be Democrats) and tried to promote propaganda that they thought would appeal to this demographic. There were reports of many heavily populated African American churches that contributed to this plan. They wanted that demographic to come out large in the Republican run off out of fear there would not be enough Republican support for Cochran in the runoff. In Hinds County, for example, 9,000 people voted for Cochran the first time. In the run off, he had close to 18,000 people that voted for him. They only had 16-17,000 people that voted the first time all together in Hinds County. That is an excessive increase and abnormal for a run off election, where typically less people vote than the first primary election. It was reported that Democrats that voted in the June 3 primary were allowed to vote in the Republican run off which is a big NO NO! Some precincts reported they did not have the Democratic books to verify if the individual had voted June 3 or not. Other precincts knowingly allowed Democrats that voted on June 3 to vote again, according to reports. On top of this, there are reports coming out that some votes were paid for or promises of things in exchange for votes. There have been admissions from Democrats on social media, stating emphatically that they had no intention of voting for Thad in Nov, but they wanted to ensure Chris did not win the primary due to his Conservative principles. All of these issues are why Chris has not conceded the election. The McDaniel Team is hurrying to audit the voting log books before Monday when the deadline to certify this election comes about. Already they have found 100s of illegal votes on the books. There are people investigating this situation as we speak. McDaniel would sadly but gladly concede if the win was thought to be fair and without clear violations. Sadly, this has not been the case and the reports keep pouring in about illegal votes or voting practices. Time will tell what happens with all of this. I think all McDaniel supporters and team just need to know that this was a fair race. At this time, I can report it is looking like anything but a fair race! Stay tuned!
