Let me start this whole thing out by stating just how thankful I - TopicsExpress

Let me start this whole thing out by stating just how thankful I am to be complaining about trivial matters in my life. Absolutely nothing makes you realize how bad things can get, and slams home our blessings, like hearing heartbreaking news of parents losing their children to the flu. Or seeing all those heart tugging pictures of hairless, brave-beyond-imagine children and their strong parents, who smile courageously and dare to hope and dream this is truly the last treatment they will endure. When life’s worries and stresses cast a black, gloomy cloud over our lives, my first words are always, “Things could be so much worse.” I’m 11 days into a new year and so far I’m not all that impressed. It’s been a tad on the negative here at the Parrott house, but I’m determined to look on the good side of things: 1. Even though our old microwave decided New Year’s Eve it didn’t care to ring in another year with us, and even though buying new appliances usually isn’t on my to-do list right after Christmas - we had the new one bought and installed a couple of days later and are now enjoying microwave popcorn again. Yay. 2. No stitches were required for the cuts sustained in installing the new microwave we didn’t want to purchase. Yay. 3. After finishing up an expensive Phase1 in our push to relieve Tim of his jack-o-lantern smile, the orthodontist gave us the news that Tim WILL indeed still require full top AND bottom braces as part of Phase2… and she happily included the expensive estimate to go with it. He sure will have a pretty smile for his senior pictures. Yay. 4. The orthodontist is pretty certain that the white spots showing on Tim’s x-rays are nothing serious and even though she’s going to run it by the oral surgeon, she’s not really worried. I’m fairly certain in this case, a huge part of the worry depends on which side of the cash register you’re standing on. Yay. 5. Although I have managed, with the help of Anbesol and a high pain threshold, to buy myself and my abscessed tooth a week away from a dentist, it has now become increasingly clear with every painful throb that accompanies my heartbeat that I will indeed be seeing him soon. He’s a really nice guy. Yay. 6. Tim is running a fever and I am probably looking at staying home tomorrow to nurse him – and my aching tooth. I’m pretty sure the fever is due to a cold and not the flu, so for that I am thankful! His fever is now down from 101.5 to 100.8. Yay!
