Let the DGA screeners begin! First up: Whiplash: Very intense and disturbing look at a student drummer who goes for broke to overcome an abusive music teacher in his attempt to achieve greatness. As with all these DVD screeners from the Directors Guild, Im not sure if I would have liked this movie more or less if Id seen it on the big screen and paid to see it. Great acting from JK Simmons, a character actor youve seen a million times and know his face, in a once in a lifetime roll that will assure you will now never forget his name. 4 out of 5 stars. youtu.be/7d_jQycdQGo
