Lets be real here. Cops here in northeast Ohio RARELY go through this type of situation (although many claim to while filing their reports to get paid time off due to injury), while law enforcement in many major cities encounter this every single day....sometimes multiple times a day. A law enforcement officer goes through required training. If that said training is not employed on a regular basis, skills learned become perishable only to result in protocol being broken by not following departmental procedure. This is ASSUMING that particular officer is unbiased and professional. Obviously, this is only a segment of what had taken place. No prior footage of what instigated this situation, no footage of the outcome either. However its very clear that in this case the police officer (although experiencing a huge adrenaline rush) used proper judgement, follows procedure, and employs all non-lethal options. So. With all this said, would the patrolman in this case be justified in using lethal force? In my view, yes he does because all non-lethal measures were taken while clearly the cops life potentially couldve ended....badly. At this point, the guy in the black coat posed a threat. Even an armed civilian with any kind of sense knows that the key is to STOP that threat. Its that simple.
