Letter from Wesley and Stacey regarding Judah. Please keep praying Dear friends, Today is a very heavy day. At about 3:00 pm this afternoon Saturday October 5th, a great tragedy struck us. Our dear Judah who is a prince of fellows was injured in a rugby game. He went into a ruck, and was hit by a player. He went down and his head hit the ground. Then a number of players piled down on him. Instantly his neck was broken and worse yet his spinal cord received a serious injury. That resulted in him immediately having no ability to move his body from the neck down. His arms from the elbows down do not move. His body does not respond. He was taken to the hospital and in the first assessment they saw that he was able to move the toes of his left leg which is very good. At the same time, he could not move or feel his right side. His hands do not respond. As of now the doctor’s do not know the full extent of the injury to the spinal cord. They have already reset his neck through traction, but the trauma and damage to the spinal cord is severe and it is not possible to know what will be the outcome. Right now, Judah cannot move his body. The doctor has not offered an opinion on what will happen. After resetting the neck and after the trauma to the spinal cord eases up it is possible that Judah could regain mobility. At the same time the doctor did not offer hope. He said that it is a wait and see situation. The MRI shows that there is bruising to the spinal cord. As I mentioned they have put his neck in traction so that the C-4 and C-5 vertebrae are now aligned and there is space between them. It seems that his left side has some strength in it. He can feel some parts of his body and has slight movement in his arms, but not from the elbows down. The doctor also said that the concerns were: 1. that no blood clots form because of the trauma. 2. that he doesn¹t get pneumonia since he is only breathing from his diaphragm and there is no movement in his upper body. 3. That the swelling goes down. There is pressure on the spinal cord. The C-4, C-5 space collapsed. The cord is back in place, but you can tell it is bruised. 4. Again, for full recovery to happen in light of the symptoms of his legs etc. it shows that it is it will take a miracle. As you can imagine, this is devastating. Everyone loves Judah and he is such good man to everyone around him. Right now he is sleeping and being woken up on the hour every hour. He has born it well, and has not complained nor shown any signs of being any different in his personality. He jokes with his brothers, and believes for the best. At the same time you can imagine what is going through his mind. He has no way of knowing whether his body will come back to him or he will be like this indefinitely. Pray for his spinal cord to be healed. Pray for Judah’s emotions not to sink. Pray for his girl friend Alex who loves him very much. Pray that he will walk again and be normal. Please send this e-mail to whomever you feel would be part of praying for our son for a full recovery. Your friends, Wesley and Stacey Campbell
