Letter to the editor Politicians would not allow real democracy. If in India the present sets of politicians continue, they would not allow us to establish a real democracy. These elections are not for change, but change only in sets of politicians. One set goes out and the other set occupies seats of power. These elections are not for establishing a real democracy, but they conduct these elections only to show to the world at large that we too have established democracy in our country. The politicians are one and these political parties are just teams in which the politicians have divided themselves not to serve the people, but to play friendly matches. These elections are also part of friendly matches. The people are just voters and none of the politicians is a man from amongst the people. Since politicians are a separate class, they are like Mughals and they have got no concern with the people. No problems had been solved and the people are still facing the same problems which they had been facing during the British rule. We must accept that till these sets of politicians are on the scene, we would never be able to establish a real democracy and we must accept that no problem of the people shall be solved because these politicians are not from amongst the people and they are not committed to serve the people and put in their energy in solving the basic problems of the people.
