Liberal -- Maria T. Ortiz DeLeon, 73, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal. She was born Aug. 13, 1940, at Guatemala City, Guatemala, the daughter of Rafael and Rafela (Ramirez) Ortiz. She married Carlos DeLeon in 1963 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He survives. A resident of Liberal for the past 28 years, she formerly worked for the Liberal Inn for 25 years, and most recently she worked for U.S.D. # 480 for 3 years, retiring in 2011. She also worked as a seamstress in her spare time. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church of Liberal Survivors: 1 Son Hector DeLeon & wife Norma Olathe, Ks 3 Daughters Maria E. DeLeon Liberal, Ks Claudia DeLeon Loya Liberal, Ks Karla DeLeon Ortiz Liberal, Ks 1 Brother Francisco Ortiz Guatemala 2 Sisters Martha Aguilar Guatemala Fidelia de Aquino Guatemala 8 Grandchildren: Deidra Ubeda, Christian Ubeda, Shawn DeLeon, Erik Loya, Christian DeLeon, Kevin Loya, Carlos Ruben DeLeon, Hector DeLeon Jr. 5 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her Parents, 1 Daughter Lorena DeLeon Ortiz, 2 Brothers Pablo Ortiz and Federico Ortiz, and 1 Sister Zola Ortiz. Rosary/Vigil Service: 7:00 pm Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at St. Anthony Catholic Church Funeral Mass: 1:00 pm Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with Father Hector de la Vega, presiding. Visitation: 9:00 am to 8:00 pm Thursday and 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home Burial: Will be at Restlawn Cemetery, Liberal, KS
